Teaching Assistant - Enhanced Resource Provision

30 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

£25,114 to £26,319 (£17,485 - £18,323 pro rata)

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support within our Enhanced Resource Provision at Huntington School but also to support in the main school if needed. This role requires a confident and resilient person who can deal with students effectively in situations. While full training will be provided, experience of the following would be an advantage:

Autism Spectrum Condition

Social-emotional regulation

Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, which can lead to avoidance and compulsive behaviours.

High levels of anxiety and mental health.

Limited use of verbal language and non-verbal skills.
If you are considering this position, then you must have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above (or equivalent to) as the role will involve supporting students with English/Literacy and Numeracy.
About Huntington School Enhanced Resource provision
Huntington ERP is a specialist provision on-site, that opened in September 2023. It offers a supportive and nurturing learning environment for children and young people to reach their potential. All children and young people in the ERP have an EHCP with a primary need of communication and interaction (with and without a diagnosis of autism) and are likely to have had support at primary focussed on self-esteem, social anxiety and managing their environment. The ERP provides specialist education for those children and young people with social interaction and communication differences and related social anxiety.
Children and young people are taught by teachers and HLTA’s in small groups for the majority of the school day. They have access to mainstream school at Huntington for some lessons, with the number of lessons dependent on strengths and specific interests. The enhanced support focusses on building confidence in social interactions in a nurturing environment, to gain confidence in themselves, become more independent and progress their learning to ensure successful outcomes for adult life.
